Citizenship
After becoming a permanent resident and living in Canada for 1,095 days or 3 years out of the last 5 years, you may now apply for citizenship. In order to get your Canadian citizenship, you need to pass the citizenship test, which composes of 20 questions, and covers Canada's history, geography, economy, government, laws, and symbols. After the test you will go to an interview where you will get the results of your test, if you had one, have your language skills checked, verify your application and original documents and ask any questions the officer may have about your application, and make sure that you meet all the requirements for citizenship.
If you pass and meet the other requirements for citizenship, you may:
-
get a ceremony date at the same time we have your test results or
-
receive an email or letter with the date and time of your ceremony
